What our streets actually look like — on the record, with dates.
This site documents the real, current condition of streets in The Mounts, measured against the Government's statutory Code of Practice on Litter and Refuse. Every photo is timestamped. Where a street falls below the acceptable standard and is reported, we start a public clock on the time the council and its appointed contractors legally have to put it right.
Moderated by a local resident. All evidence is reviewed before publishing. Grades follow the Code exactly. We publish only what can be evidenced with a dated photo.
A note on where we are — and where we’re going
When Mounts Litter Watch went live, it went up as a test. The idea was simple: put the persistent fly-tipping and litter problems in The Mounts on the public record, with verified, timestamped, and location-stamped photographic evidence, and see whether an evidence-based approach could work where informal reporting has not.
The response from the community has been genuinely encouraging. Residents across The Mounts have got in touch to share their support, flag additional streets, and — in a number of cases — offer to help moderate and document their own road. That willingness to get involved is the whole point: this only works as a shared, community-owned record.
What we didn’t expect was how far it would reach. People from other parts of Northampton have contacted us to say they’re facing the very same problems, and to ask whether something similar could work for their area. That tells us this isn’t a one-street grievance. It’s a town-wide issue, and residents are ready to act on it.
On the strength of that feedback, the site is now moving from test into full build. This next version is being designed properly around ease of use — mobile-friendly, quick to submit a report, no technical setup — with clearer guidance and more useful information built in. We want anyone who cares about their street to be able to contribute in minutes.
To West Northamptonshire Council and its contractors: this is not a passing complaint. It is a growing, organised community effort backed by a verifiable public evidence base — and by residents who intend to see this through.

Still here — waste left uncollected, proven by timestamps
Some of this waste has sat in the same place for a very long time. Because every photograph carries its own capture date, we can show the same spot on different dates — dated proof of how long it has really been left, set against a cleansing service the Council says runs five days a week.

This is an independent, community-run evidence record for The Mounts, Northampton. It is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, any council or contractor. Its purpose is to improve local streets and to hold the responsible bodies to the published statutory standards — not to target any individual.
